MAC Cosmetics

The goal of this product shoot was to mimic a campaign that consumers would see during the holiday season. The product I decided to use was MAC Cosmetics lipsticks. I went with beauty products because I find the creative process to be fascinating and fun for me. I wanted to use candy canes as an accessory to the lipstick as they are a key image when I picture the holiday season. I used cardstock that had red glitter on it to create the background. This was shot in a studio with professional lighting and I used a softbox to create a dimension between the lipsticks and their shadows.

Postcard's from Summer

This photo was taken out in East Hampton, NY. Originally, there wasn’t a particular goal of this photoshoot other than to create a beautiful image that highlighted the subject, Carys Douglas. This photo reminds me of a photo that would be in a spread in a magazine such as Town & Country. The organic nature of the photo works well with the hues and colors depicted in the photograph.

The Garden Photo

This photo highlights nature's pure beauty. Carys Douglas, the subject of my photo, effortlessly is placed in the photo to allow the natural light used to bounce seamlessly off the top of her head. The contrast between the fluorescent green grass and the dark green trees behind her was intentional. The green also was picked up in the details of the dress. The goal of this photo’s feeling was for the consumer to feel youthful, serene and imagine the smell of the fresh air.

A Ride Through the Sky

This photograph featured four individuals at the South Carolina State Fair on a conveyor belt that took them over the fair while they watched what was going on below. The composition of this photo was important to me as I balanced the main subjects of my photo off to the right of the center, leaving space for the other people in my photo to not distract while still filling what would have been negative space. In the post production process, I elevated the contrast between the yellow seats, the blue sky and the black wires to create a more distinct and sharp look. This photo may be used in an advertisement for the fair in years to come.

The Carnival

This photo showcases the interaction between a carnival worker at the South Carolina State Fair and customers. This photo was using all natural lighting and was taken at golden hour. In post production I was able to saturate the colors to make the colors pop more. I also added contrast to further create a hue of light around the workers body. I wanted a photo that had a front ground, middle and background to create depth and dimension.

Curiosity

This styled photo was shot in a professional studio. The vision for this photo was to create a stark contrast between the subject, Lauren Mandel, and the opaque black background. To achieve this aesthetic, I had the subject face off to her right and placed a light with a softbox covering in front of her. This created a nice shadow. The mood I wanted the viewer to feel is curiosity and a day dreaming feeling.

Paris

This photo was taken while walking the streets of Paris, France. The scenery was gorgeous and I wanted to use my surroundings to create a well composed photo. I wanted to capture people in their natural state while still including the entire ferris wheel. I also made a note to focus on the puddle with the reflection of the ferris wheel. I felt this brought the photo together and added a hint of realism into it. The original day was quite dreary, so in post production, I played around with the exposure and brightness while still keeping contrast.
